The patient cicada
The sleepy cicada sings a love song
He sings to the Sun
He sings to the Moon
He sings to the trees and the flowers in bloom.
So very deep down in the earth
For years and years
he quietly sleeps
Then out of his shell he stretches his wings
Patient cicada hiding in the tree
Sing as I wake
Sing as I play
Humming your sweet tune on this long summer day
Hold sun over head
Make a crescent moon shape
Trace the shape of a flower
Bend to the ground
Pretend to be sleeping
Stretch arms
Cross arms crawling fingers
Sway side to side
Cup hands on ears
